Grand Master Kane Kurig, a male clan dwarf, is chief of the Stollhofen clan and the grand master of the Hecks. While definitely an elder dwarf at over 300 years old, Kurig is still strong and capable of leading both dwarves and humans into battle.
Since inheriting leadership of the Stollhofen clan nearly a century ago, Kurig has sought improved relations with the various human kingdoms of Niessia. His motives are straightforward: the dwarves of Stollhofen live on the border of their ancient enemies, the orcs. Like most Stollhofen dwarves, Kurig believes the orc armies of Niesse will someday undoubtedly pick up the banner of war and march against dwarves and humans alike. Ever vigilant, Kurig intends to be ready.
To this end, Kurig lobbied for the formation of a special unit within the Hecks known as the Heavy Boots. The Hecks themselves were a grand knightly order formed by Hellwig Gustavus, one that united such orders as those of Hesse, Munchkein, Stollhofen, Himyar, and Tetonique. Gustavus approved of Kurig’s idea, and the dwarf was invited to lead this dwarven host.
Within a few decades, Kurig was promoted by Governor Gustavus to grand master of the Hecks.
Kurig now spends most of his time in Augstat and Enchantments Guard, serving as part of Gustavus’ senior command staff and as a trusted advisor.
