Ballerina

Ballerina appears in the heavens as a human ballerina, in a constant state of dance, always on the move performing pirouettes, and sky leaps rarely lingering in the sky for long.  Even during Ballerina Week, she waits until well past midnight, makes a dramatic entrance, and then is off to the next dance.

Ballerina shows us what beauty and perfection can be achieved through discipline and self-sacrifice.  To truly master a skill, one must renounce all else.

Ballerina is friends with no one, for her discipline requires constant practice, leaving no time for relationships, although she recognizes the common values of focus and dedication that she shares with Artisan, and the essential gift of music provided by Musician.  She loves an audience and savors the attention of the more socially powerful anumians, like Sun, Moon, and King.  She often dances with Play.

Ballerina will aid mortal companions who carry her fate card in any action that involves improving their prowess in the skill they value most highly.  Ballerina is particularly inclined to support these sorts of actions during Ballerina Week, or anytime for those born in this week.

“Beware!  Ballerina is a very jealous anumian!  If you carry her fate card and show insufficient attention or focus on your central skill, she will lose interest in you, take back her Fate Card, and find someone more worthy!”

—Nabu Pabu

When Ballerina is Called

If Ballerina answers a calling---when her card is drawn from a fate deck during the ritual for summoning aid from anumians---the seeker and the seer will experience minor supernatural manifestations of Ballerina, which might be a swarm of butterflies, the scent of her perfume, or the sound of applause.

In the artwork of the Ballerina Fate Card the seer might be drawn to her perfect balance, the thorny rose wrapped around her ankle, the man who is so enthralled, even in death, the tiny flock of fey coming to join her, or the collection of shoes at her feet.

Ballerina will typically ask seekers to help make some competitive environment more supportive of the competitors, like improving the venue, sponsoring deserving applicants, or promoting attendance.
