Royal Isle is a small island just off the coast of Hesse, in the harbor of Augstat. Access to Royal Isle is tightly controlled, as it is the traditional home of the Hessen royal family.
Royal Isle is also named Gefangnisfestung, or the Prison Fortress, alluding to the concept that an exclusive island fortress might be thought of as a prison by those so fearful of their safety that they never leave it.
For nearly six centuries—from the founding of Augstat in Year –540 until Kordaava took the citadel in Year –2—Hessen royalty resided in Enchantment’s Guard. In Year 7, After Hellwig Gustavus was appointed Governor of Niessia and given Enchantment’s Guard from which to govern, the nation of Hesse began developing and fortifying Royal Isle as a secure home for its royalty.
As a secure bastion for those of noble birth, however, Royal Isle has not been a big success story. Two royals have died while living on the island, both under mysterious circumstances.
